Bak to tek (ft MC Kyla) / Reflex (ft kat)

Empathy Digital are pleased to present their third release featuring New Zealand’s own answer to deep techy breakbeat – Double Negative.

Double Negative are a positive force within the growing New Zealand breaks scene. The lads, John Henderson and Nick Gardner met at an audio engineering course in 2001 and have been producing music together ever since. They recently played Phat07 on New Years Eve alongside heavyweight breaks acts Plump Djs, Adam Freeland, and Timmy Schumacher. They have also in the last few years played support for cutting edge international producers such as the Rogue Element, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors and Freq Nasty. Double Negative DJ sets combine some of the world’s best party breaks with their own unique yet wickedly danceable tunes.

The first track ‘Bak to Tek’ (feat MC Kyla) is infused with a deep teched out bassline, heavyweight beats, subtle guitar licks, tied together with the tight quick fire vocals of NZ’s own, the lovely MC Kyla. We hope you’ll agree, this one is their tune for 2006.

The second track ‘Reflex’ (feat Kat) although slightly more laid back, still packs a solid punch. With a bassline that just wont sit still, atmospheric vocals and tightly layered breaks, this track is certainly a gem worth adding to any prized collection.

2007 is already shaping up to be a productive year for Double Negative. Keep an eye out for these lads – they intend to keep rocking wickedness in breaks well into the future.
