EMPATHY DIGITAL

10.Dec.2010 EMPD019: Eavesdrop: Matter of Time

Auckland, New Zealand based drum and bass DJ/Producer Eavesdrop is no stranger to Empathy Recordings having previously released music on the compilation “Is this Code” back in 2003 under the guise Grim Da Vide, and on 2010’s Rumble in the Jungle compilation as Fractured Noise.

Now under the pseudonym Eavesdrop, he brings You “Matter Of Time” a new 3 track single release featuring Auckland Based Hip hop and dance music Toaster and M.C “Imagine This”.  The title track is packed with killer rhymes and deep pitching bass lines, it’s a subtle number that’s as deep as they come.

On remix duties we have French based producer Eddy Crusher aka White Papoo. Eddy is a well established breakbeat producer and long time Empathy ally. He sets the bar high with this frenetic tech dnb workout featuring his trademark electro synth stabs and frenzied bass… this track comes ready to destroy any dance floor.

Completing the release, Eavesdrop V.S Alias Glitch Remix is a drastic take on the Original mix. With Glitching Vocal effects and a smashing clap and wobble bass line this remix is going to tear up dances floors. Alias was once the Dj/Producer for The Fast Crew, now he’s teaming up with Eavesdrop to produce Glitch hop, watch out for future releases from these guys.

It’s just a matter of time before Eavesdrop blows the roof off… Look out for his forthcoming E.P on empathy next year.

This release will be available in all good stores in time for your new years party… 28 December 2010.

21.Oct.2010 EMPD018 Part 2: Opiuo – Monkey Crunk Remixes

Empathy Recordings is proud to announce the second in our series of Opiuo remix releases. Part 2 features some of New Zealand’s finest breakbeat talent in the form of Sick Cycle & K-Lab. This time round we’ve also invited Canadian/American all star combo Ill. Gates & Samples to come along for the ride.

The highly influential paring of Ill. Gates & Samples has been much anticipated amongst the glitch and electro community. Now we give you the chance to judge for yourselves just how huge their sound is. Their unique electro hip hop influenced brand of glitch is quite simply wall to wall bass.

Sick Cycle are fast becoming one of dubstep’s rising stars. Their dark as pitch brand of noise has singled them out as something to special amongst a sea of “mother would like” dub and dubstep acts to have emerged over the last few years. Their take on Opiuo’s sound is destined to lead to speaker damage and hefty insurance claims.

Combine dirty Basslines with 80s hip hop breaks and a sprinkle of electro freshness and you get a sound which is undeniably K-Lab and undeniably banging! Opiuo’s remix of K-Lab’s ‘Wrecked’ tune was one of our most  downloaded glitch hop tracks of 2009, now K-Lab is returning the favour with what we think is one of the dirtier remixes we’ve ever released.

EMPD018: Monkey Crunk – The Remixes Part 1

Opiuo’s Monkey Crunk originally came out as a part of Empathy’s 2009 compilation. It went on to become one of our biggest sellers and took the glitch hop world by storm, topping dj playlists across the globe.

Since then Opiuo has gone from strength to strength: He’s toured the Americas, packed out clubs across Australasia, produced a top selling debut album, and released a score of successful singles which have topped breakbeat download charts across the world.

His rise has been rewarded with a nomination for best new electronic artist at this year’s Australian Independent Music Awards. We’ve decided there’s no better way to honour his meteoric rise than to reinvent Monkey Crunk, and to do this we’ve brought in a few friends…

Part 1 is on sale now from the following stores:

Addictech

Juno Download

Trackitdown

Part 2 will be available late october!
